Two days from Fes into the Erg Chebbi Sahara desert and back — a private tour that descends through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, the charming alpine town of Ifrane, and the dramatic Ziz Valley to reach the golden dunes of Merzouga. A camel ride at sunset, a night in a luxury desert camp, and a dawn ride to watch the Saharan sunrise are followed by visits to the traditional Rissani souk and the fossil marble workshops of Erfoud before returning to Fes in the late afternoon.
Every element is private, tailored, and delivered by a dedicated driver/guide throughout.

– Descending through the spectacular Ziz Valley palm grove

– Spending a magical night in a luxury desert camp under the Saharan stars
– Enjoying Berber drum music around the campfire

Early pick-up from your accommodation or the airport in Fes. Drive south through Imouzzer to visit Ifrane — the charming alpine town famous for its low temperatures, snow, and European-style architecture that have earned it the nickname “the Switzerland of Morocco.” Continue to the cedar forests near Azrou, where Barbary macaques roam freely among the ancient trees.
Continue south to Midelt for a lunch stop. Then drive through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the breathtaking Ziz Valley — a winding ribbon of palm groves stretching through the desert landscape. Arrive at the Merzouga Sahara desert in the afternoon. Switch to camels and cross the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, pausing on the top of a high dune to enjoy the magical sunset over the Sahara. Continue to the desert camp, where the evening brings a traditional Moroccan dinner, Berber drum music, and dancing around the campfire beneath a vast open sky of stars. Dinner and overnight in the camp.
Rise early to watch the beautiful sunrise in the middle of the desert. After a warm Moroccan breakfast, return by camel or the camp’s 4×4 to Merzouga. Drive north to visit Rissani — the ancient capital of the Tafilalet region — a major traditional trading centre with a bustling souk on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Continue to Erfoud to visit one of the workshops producing remarkable sculptures from fossilised marble.
Drive back north along the Ziz river, stopping at a panoramic viewpoint over the extraordinary valley. Continue through the cedar forests and Ifrane before arriving back in Fes in the late afternoon. Drop-off at your riad or airport.
