The 7-day Morocco tour from Casablanca is widely regarded as the optimal Morocco experience for travellers with one week to spare — long enough to cover the country’s principal highlights at a genuinely comfortable pace, yet sufficiently compact to maintain narrative energy throughout. Seven days allows Morocco’s extraordinary diversity to reveal itself progressively: from the cosmopolitan Atlantic coast through the ancient imperial cities, across the Middle Atlas mountains, into the Sahara Desert, through the southern kasbah landscape, and over the High Atlas into Marrakech.
Day-by-Day: Seven Days from Casablanca to Marrakech
Day One: Casablanca to Fes via Rabat and Meknes
The first day introduces Morocco’s imperial heritage in concentrated form. Casablanca’s Hassan II Mosque — one of the world’s largest religious buildings and the only mosque in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors — provides a powerful opening. Rabat’s Hassan Tower and the Chellah necropolis follow before Meknes, where the enormous Bab Mansour gate and the royal granaries of Moulay Ismail represent some of the most impressive 17th-century architecture in North Africa. Arrival in Fes by early evening for riad check-in.
Day Two: Fes Medina
A full day in the Fes medina with a licensed local guide transforms what could be an overwhelming labyrinth into a coherent and deeply rewarding experience. The Chouara tannery — operating since the eleventh century and visible from surrounding leather shop balconies — is the centrepiece, alongside the Bou Inania Madrasa, the artisan souk districts organised by craft, and the extraordinary Al-Qarawiyyin University mosque complex.
Day Three: Fes to Merzouga via Middle Atlas
Cedar forests, Barbary macaques, alpine Ifrane, the Ziz Gorges. Arrival in Merzouga for the sunset camel trek and desert camp overnight.
Days Four through Seven: Southern Circuit to Marrakech
Todra Gorge canyon walk, Dades Valley overnight, Ouarzazate and Atlas Film Studios, Ait Benhaddou UNESCO ksar, and the Tizi n’Tichka mountain crossing to Marrakech.
